Introducing the Daniel James Miller Foundation

on November 19, 2011

Greetings, and welcome to the official web site of the Daniel James Miller Foundation, a charitable organization seeking to provide financial assistance to the families of children suffering from Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD), a disease which often requires a life-saving kidney transplant in children. Danny Jr. is the second child of UFC Middleweight Dan Miller, and his wife Kristin, and has battled PKD since his birth in January of 2010. Danny has seen some tough times and beaten the odds on more than one occasion to become the happy boy he is today. In less than two months Danny will undergo the kidney transplant he requires in order to have the chance, for the very first time, to live the normal, happy, care-free life that all children deserve. Unfortunately, this procedure is as expensive as it is necessary. In addition to the cost of the medication Danny will need for the rest of his life, the living donor’s surgery has been declared elective, forcing her to pay out of pocket to provide Danny with the kidney he requires. In order to help cover these costs, the Daniel James Miller Foundation has been established. Although currently all donations will go to the costs of Danny and his donor’s surgeries as well as Danny’s medication, in the future the Foundation hopes to continue its fundraising endeavors to not only help Danny and his family, but also to help other families battling PKD to make a positive difference in the lives of many children.

The foundation will be holding its first fundraising seminar on December 3rd at AMA Fight Club in Whippany, NJ. The fundraiser will include two sessions, with a two-hour no-gi grappling session in the morning, a lunchtime meet-and-greet and a two-hour afternoon muay thai session. For more information on the seminar, click the “upcoming fundraisers” link from the menu on the right.

Further information about PKD, Danny and how you can help, is also provided via the menu on the right. Follow the Daniel James Miller Foundation facebook page and this blog to stay up to date on the latest drives and Danny’s progress and recovery as he receives the wonderful gift of a new kidney.

  2. May God heal your son may the funds be raised. Renal kidney failure runs in my family and this same disease. My Nana was on dialysis for over 14 years my cousin has pollups, my VERY good friend has had TWo kidney transplants. Kidney problems are a soft spot for me and families reaching out in need. I am over zealous in fithness to fight my chances on such a disease. Blessings and prayer to your family.
