Update on Danny Jr. and the Memorabilia Auction

Greetings, everyone. As you know, Danny’s surgery for his kidney replacement was scheduled to occur in late January, this Saturday. You may also have noticed Jim giving a shout out to little Danny at the end of his fight, and the emotion on display as he did so. Unfortunately, Danny has had a rough couple of weeks and his surgery has been delayed indefinitely. About two weeks ago little Danny suffered a stroke, a complication of an infection he received as a result of the tubes he has to use for his PKD-related treatments. Danny has been returned down to the fine folks at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia who did such fantastic work for Danny in the early months of his life, helping to bring him back from a very scary place to become the happy little boy we have come to know. Danny’s mom and dad are by his side, and we are hoping for a strong recovery for the little guy.

We are aware that of late there have been some difficulties regarding donations through PayPal. In order to remedy this, we have updated the donations page with information on how you can still help out. Currently there is an auction going on with fantastic memorabilia donated from many within the MMA community. More items are coming in, so stay tuned and follow us and CSC Memorabilia on twitter to stay abreast of the latest items. If none of the items strike your fancy but you still wish to help financially, donations can be made by check and mailed to:

Thank You MMA World Expo for the Charity Raffle

The MMA World Expo 2011 was held this past Sunday in New York City at the Jacob Javits Center, with a number of MMA, grappling and boxing stars in attendence. In addition to hosting the launch of former UFC Heavyweight and Light Heavyweight Champion Randy Couture’s new book, “The Last Round”, the event offered grapplers the opportunity to compete in the Renzo Gracie BJJ Open tournament, and MMA fans to meet and take pictures with the pros they’ve seen fighting on UFC Pay-per-view broadcasts. Both Dan and Jim were in attendance to sign autographs and take pictures, and Danny himself made an appearance with his mom and sister to thank Paul and everyone else involved in the planning of the Expo for putting together a charity auction in Danny’s name. Tickets for the raffle were sold for $5 each, and the winner could not have been more deserving as the 60″ LCD HDTV was awarded to Carlos Habron, a US Marine Corp reservist who also serves as a volunteer firman and EMT.

Congratualtions to Carlos, and thank you to everyone who helped out by purchasing a ticket for the raffle, which raised over $700 for Danny. Your contributions are greatly appreciated and will help to provide little Danny with a better, happier life.
